BEWARE of "Breno"  - Lagoa Sao Paulo and all saunas in Rio

This is a posting I should have made long ago.  Met this guy maybe 1 1/2 years ago in Estacio and was OK (not great) experience.  Without prior agreement paid him R$70 (he came) which is my slightly generous standard except for a couple of super-favorite regulars I might pay a little more.  He started insisting on R$100 which I firmly but politely refused.  That began a mini-stalking that hasn't stopped to this day, including walking by my side home from Curujinha's one night, bumping me passing in the street, etc.  I do not react to him and really have no fear of him, but it's an ongoing nuisance (and I know of at least one other american who has had a bad experience with him).

"Breno" is probably 5'10", slender, attractive and clean-cut with wavy hair and more white than moreno.  He always wears a medium-heavy silver necklace.  Lagoa is his home base but makes regular trips to Rio and more works 202 and 117 these days.

I don't need advice on this - I've alerted the appropriate sauna owners but asked for no direct action as I don't want to escalate in any way and I just ignore him.  Just wanted to give the rest of you a heads-up.

Jake...This is a very old post but I'd like to add my thoughts. I'm a new member of this board but I'm very surprised by some things that I am reading. Although I havent yet been to Brazil I'm an old hand at dealing with twinks and escort boys. I'm shocked at how many people allow these Rio escort boys to become part of their lives.  No offense, but the boy stalked you outside of your home because you let him know where you live when you should have had sex with him in the sauna and left him there. I've seen posts where people are discussing the personal lives of various escort boys or the awkwardness of seeing an escort after a particular incident. I am shocked that anyone would actually put themselves in a position where they would become personally involved with these escort boys.

Most escorts are poor boys desperate for money who pretend to like what they are doing. Many are strait and dont even like gay sex. I had two roommates in the US when I was younger who were escorts. They hated having to sleep with fat older guys who flaunted their money. Why would a hot 20 year old enjoy sleeping with a fat hairy 50 or 60 year old? Many of the escorts are contemptous of their clients behind their backs.  I say  enjoy it for what it is but dont delude yourself into thinking that these boys are your friends.

Steve, I couldn't help but chuckle at some of your comments, and you'll do fine in Brazil.

Escorts are escorts, regardless of the continent, but Brazilians do make an art of it.  Having lived in the Polk St. area of San Francisco years ago, I've seen it and experienced it all as well.

Part of it, I think, is feeling sorry for these guys that don't have the opportunities we enjoy in the US.    Combine that with their extremely good looks, great acting skills, and the fantasy of a gay paradise you will experience there... well, you'll probably understand the temptation once you arrive.

Their culture is different though from ours in that they do respect their older population.  It's a very young country, many don't have fathers, and so for some there is genuine attraction, but I'd agree with you that in most cases, money is the primary if not the only motivation.

I'm not saying that many do not enjoy our company.  Many love everything American and feel privileged to socialize with us.

The only times I've been disappointed in Brazil is when things were rushed and I didn't truly take the time to get to know them, determine their motivation, and look deep in their eyes.

But, on the otherhand, I have met some life long friends where I can spend an entire week with them and give them a small donation when we part,   But then again, I keep getting asked for a new computer

Drey...ha ha. Thanks for your quick responses. See what I mean, a new computer isnt exactly a small donation. They think we're all made out of money! I plan to tell them all "Soy de Costa Rica." "Donde?" " Es un pais muy pobre". lol. I'd like to meet you someday. Do you live in Brasil or the US?

those are some harsh words sneaky.. true.. but a bit harsh... A friend of mine (who shall remain nameless) once told me not to spoil his fantasy and he didn't want to be reminded that these guys were sleeping with him for pay.  I don't want to spoil people's image but how do you broach them about the topic without destroying their fantasy.  I'm not going to mess with someone's adult disney trip after they have just flown 8 hours plus... but than again.. do you let them fall into the trap... hmmm...its a toughy I'm sure we all grapple with..

And not all of us are old and fat.. i'm just fat..hahaha..i gotta say its hard not to fall into that trap... some of these guys are pros... and is it sooo bad... I think a little drama in people's lives is what makes life worth living....I think we are all sadists in that respect..just my two bits..

Hey Steve, unfortunately I live in the US    Like to meet you as well, and who knows maybe Rio in November.

This reminds me of the member who had R$ 350 lifted from his pocket at Club 117 while in his street clothes.  He claimed he was merely playing around with some guys he knew there that he thought were his friends.

Steve you're right about a computer being more than a small donation, but I haven't bought it yet   LOL

I used to spend a lot of time with a guy in Rio named Cesar who also never asked for much.  Eventually, I did buy him a cell phone but that was after two years of knowing him.  I'd rather them honestly ask for something they'd like though, than ask for money for a sick grandmother.

As mentioned, I don't need any advice - I have plenty of experience in (mostly) living in Rio.   I didn't say I ever brought him home - and wouldn't think of it.  I said he followed me (most of the way) home.  As a note to non-sauna seekers, I once, more than five years ago, was attracted to a fresh new face and had him vetted by a very knowledgable brazilian friend who pronounced him OK.  This was just before my casa was finished and I was staying in a nearby apartment.  He tried very hard - too hard - to get me to take some "gum".  I'm very certain that it was a "cinderella" and got rid of him, which I was big enough to do without a problem.  The very few guys that have ever made it to my home are extremely safe long-term acquaintances, including two "boyfriends".  I have no illusions but do enjoy the many benefits of Rio.

Your comments are naive. The saunaboys have their own network of communicaton and know exactly which client is worth what and where he is staying . It is the same in every big city.

I've been speaking with Sponge Bob, who's in Rio now, about a guy named Julio that used to frequent Corujinha's.

He used to be a favorite of Bob's until Julio spent the night and left with his camcorder.

The boyz are saying that Julio is now in prison after drugging a tourist and stealing from him.

It's amazing how much they communicate amongst each other as if they're on the same soccer team.  Even the 19 year-old he recently met knows all of the old hands at the sport.

Rio is a small world.

A sauna boi can spot a John from three blocks away.  Use the safe in your hotel to store your valuables.  Better yet, use the sex motels.  That's what they're there for.

These guys can pick your pocket without you feeling it. Beware if you are surrounded by two or more guys at the sauna. One will distract you by talking into your left ear, another will talk to you in your right ear while he has his hand already in your right pocket.....you wont feel his hand in your pocket. Unless you wear tight jeans. And if there is too much fore play you may feel nothing at all lol.

Addendum...make sure your credit and and bank cards are secure. They are easily duplicated and it has been known to have as much a $70.000 withdrawn from your bank card an and anotherther 70,000 dollars withdrawn or used up from your credit cards. Some how you will not realize this till you get home.

I use my credit cards & ATM cards everytime I go to Rio, and I never (knock wood) have had a problem.  I do put small daily limits on my cards; try to be careful;  inform the banks/cc company that I am going to Brazil, and call them when I return. Whilst in a sauna, if a sauna boy reaches into my pocket, the only thing he'll find/grab is my dick
